What Equipment Do I Need for the Lesson?
First, you’ll need an instrument (except for singing). You will also need a high-speed internet connection with a download speed of at least 25 Mbps and upload speed of 3 Mbps. Check your internet speed HERE.
Also, make sure you have a laptop or computer ready for your lessons. Before the trial, take a moment to set up Zoom and do a test meeting to make sure everything is working well. If you want to improve the audio quality, consider using a microphone.
Your instructor may suggest using method books for lesson materials, but it’s totally up to you. If you prefer not to use them, your instructor will customize the lesson materials specifically for you. For piano students, we highly recommend using piano method books like Faber Adventures, and your instructor will help you choose the right one during your first lesson.
We have our exclusive shop page to purchase lesson materials and instrument accessories.

Performance Opportunities
Performing in front of people is a fantastic way to improve your skills as a musician.
At Lesson With You, students have the opportunity to participate in seasonal virtual concerts, showcasing their talent for their families and friends. Our past spring and winter concerts have been a success, with a growing number of sign-ups each time.
To participate in our recitals, you’ll receive an invitation every spring/summer and winter about one to two months in advance. You can also talk to our amazing instructors for performance tips—they have extensive experience performing and winning competitions in their instrument field.
How to Make the Most of Your Lessons
Remember, “practice makes perfect”! The secret to making quick and steady progress in learning the instrument is to have a consistent practice routine. If you’re just starting out, don’t worry too much about how long you practice each day. The important thing is to make it a daily habit. Even 5-10 minutes a day can make a big difference compared to cramming in longer sessions only on the weekends.
For young students under 8 years old, we recommend parents to actively participate in their musical journey. Encourage them to spend regular time with their instrument and find a balance between practice and playful exploration. If you need help making a good practice routine for your child, our instructors can help you.
To get the most out of your lessons, it’s also important to take them regularly. Starting with one lesson per week is ideal for beginners. If you’re preparing for competitions or recitals, consider taking lessons twice a week. Also, avoid long breaks between lessons—while a few weeks off is fine, a break longer than a month can slow your progress and make it easier to forget techniques.
