About Colin
Trombonist and educator Colin Stubbs earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory, where he studied with National Symphony Orchestra trombonist and revered educator David Murray. During his time there, Colin performed under such notable conductors as Marin Alsop, Joseph Young, Jonathan Heyward, and Mei-Ann Chen in various orchestral concerts. Other notable performances include appearances with the Avanti Orchestra and the Music Academy of the West’s Festival Chamber Orchestra.
As an educator, Colin served as a Teaching Artist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s OrchKids program for two years. There, he taught early exploratory musicianship to first and second graders, and also led ensemble support, private lessons, and sectionals for middle and high school students. Colin believes in not only teaching his students but also helping them learn how to teach themselves.
He enjoys combining fun, engaging music with critical developmental repertoire tailored to each student’s growth.
In his free time, Colin enjoys hiking, baking, building Legos, and playing with his two dogs, Charli and Kevin.
