About Sara
Sara Rodriguez is a freelance violinist and dedicated music educator based in Petal, Mississippi. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from The University of Southern Mississippi and her Master of Music in Violin Performance from Baylor University. Throughout her studies, she had the privilege of working under the guidance of distinguished mentors including Dr. Stephen Redfield, Dr. Bruce Berg, and Professor Julia Bushkova.
With an extensive background in performance, Sara has appeared with numerous orchestras across the United States, including the Mobile Symphony Orchestra, Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, Baylor Symphony, Waco Symphony Orchestra, and San Angelo Symphony Orchestra. Her orchestral collaborations have allowed her to share the stage with world-renowned artists such as Itzhak Perlman, Joshua Bell, Plácido Domingo, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, and Sir James Galway.
Sara’s passion for chamber music has led her to participate in several esteemed summer festivals, including the Masterworks Music Festival, Northern Lights Music Festival, Hot Springs Music Festival, and Miami Music Festival. Among her early achievements, she was the winner of the 2004 Young Artists Competition in her hometown of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and received the Honorable Achievement Award from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2009. She has also performed as a soloist with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Honduras, presenting Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor under the direction of Maestro Carlos Amat.
In addition to her performance career, Sara is deeply passionate about teaching. She has guided many students to success in auditions, examinations, and competitions. With several years of experience teaching violin and viola, she continues to inspire young musicians through her thoughtful and personalized approach to instruction.
