About Samantha
Samantha Winkler is a recent graduate of Northwestern University with a Master’s Degree in Clarinet Performance.
Ms. Winkler is an avid performer, appearing most recently with the St. Anne Salon Series in Houston. She was a prize winner at the 2018 Buffet Crampon Student Showcase and a semi-finalist in the 2019 Jan and Beattie Wood Concerto Competition. Her playing earned her elite spots in Masters programs across the country, including Carnegie Mellon University, Eastman School of Music, The Glenn Gould School, Indiana University, and Northwestern University.
As well as solo work, Ms. Winkler enjoys playing in a variety of ensembles. She served as principal clarinet in the Brevard Opera’s performance of Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, and performed principal clarinet on many other notable works, including Sibelius’s Violin Concerto, Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra, Smetana’s Má Vlast, and Respighi’s Fontane di Roma.
Ms. Winkler’s primary teachers include Carrie Smith, Chester Rowell, Mark Nuccio, and Steve Cohen.
